I have been working with Erin and Murrieta Dance Project for 10 years now. They're a premiere dance studio with a whole lot of amazing talent. In December, I finished a redesign of their website, I think this is the fourth redesign I've done for them. I moved them from WordPress and a custom design over to my favorite, SquareSpace. We also changed the main domain name to MDP.dance, which is just so cool.
In December, I shot for two days capturing footage that encapsulates the life of the studio. I'm working on a number of videos that will be published on the site in the coming weeks. The first one was the loop at the top of the homepage. This Studio Tour is the first full video. It's a quick tour of the facility and all that they offer.
I shot on the impressive Sony a7R II with the Zeiss 24-70mm f4. I shot footage in both 4k and 1080p so that I could capture the slow motion clips at 60 frames a second. I edited in Premiere Pro CC then graded with FilmConvert. For the black and white footage I used Kodak T-MAX 100 with the grain size set to 16mm for the larger grain. I kept the grain at 100% to make it pretty gritty. For the color shots I used Fuji ETERNA 8553 with grain size set to 35mm full frame and at 20% to keep the grain to a minimum. The music is "Dawn" by Har Megiddo licensed from The Music Bed.
